Description

Super Hatch Artemia Cysts

These cysts have been harvested and graded, under laboratory conditions for accurate hatch results.

Minimum hatch 90%

230,000 Nauplii / gram

Available in 100g and 425g vacuum sealed cans

SET UP

Take a hatching cone or similarly shaped vessel and ensure that this is well illuminated by a good light source.  It is essential that the cone is semi-translucent for ease of harvesting and light transmission.

ADD WATER

Fill the hatching cone with water and adjust the salinity to 25ppt (parts per thousand), the optimum hatching temperature is 82 degrees fahrenheit (28 C)

ADD CYSTS

Add the cysts at a rate of 1g per litre.

AERATE

Provide adequate aeration to keep the cysts in suspension - do not aerate too much or the cysts will stick to the side of the hatching cone above the water level.  This will significantly affect the overall hatch.

HATCH

Depending upon water temperature, the cysts should hatch between 18 - 36 hours.

HARVEST

After hatching the Brine shrimp, turn off or remove the aeration and wait several minutes for the shells to separate.  At this point it is advisable to place a light source at the base of the hatching cone to encourage the artemia to swim to the base and allow the shells to rise to the surface.  Once separated, the nauplii can be either siphoned from the bottom of the cone with a length of air tubing, or gently drained through the bottom of the cone through a shut off valve if equipped.

RINSE

The warm incubation temperature, creates ideal conditions for bacteria bloom.  It is therefore important to rinse off the baby Brine shrimp in a fine mesh net or sieve, using clean fresh or salt water, prior to feeding to your fish.

CLEAN EQUIPMENT

Tanks and hatching equipment, should be cleaned and disinfected regularly.
